What is the difference between an imagination and a dream?
An imagination is a visualized thought. A dream is virtualized reality. An imagination is a picture captured by the mind, while a dream is an experience conceived by the five senses. We have thousands of imaginations daily but it is difficult to let go of a dream about the future that we can see, hear, taste, feel and smell.
When you dream you absorb yourself in the full sensation of your dream environment. Amazingly, we all dream – some dream greatness, others dream fear. Oh yes! Fear is a kind of dream – fear is a dream in which you vividly imagine or virtualize the worst possible outcome.
The first thing I teach young people in preparation for a successful future is “how to dream”. Your dream is your license to a life without limits.
But this Thursday, during the Career Empowerment Summit with me, we will be taking it a step further – what is next after conceiving a great dream? We will be looking at “Beyond Dreams” – the link between conceiving and achieving it. I’ll be telling plenty of stories – stories that will inspire you to action, the kind of actions that will bridge the gap between your dream and its realization.
